Light gauge Steel Structures

What is Possible With Light-Gauge Steel?

The question should be “What isn’t possible?” because there is an endless list of uses for this versatile steel product: everything from cars and bridges to storage racks and furniture.

Hyperion Structures Systems has mastered light-gauge steel in building structures and continues to research new possibilities. No matter the building use, Hyperion Structures can pursue and work with its clients on coming up with a cold-formed solution: trusses, joists, walls, floor decking  and other components.

What is the Big Deal about Light-Gauge Steel?

It’s fairly new, but it’s rapidly growing in popularity. Why is that? This light and strong material makes the building process better for everyone, whether you’re an architect, contractor or developer.

Light Gauge Steel

Our expertise in steel framing solutions means we can supply a complete load bearing stand structure. Our load bearing stand alone structure includes roofs, walls, floors, door/ window openings, bracing and external finishes ideal for stand alone low rise structures.

Components are designed, detailed and manufactured at our advanced production facility then delivered to site in stick or panelised form.

This fast track process is ideal for housing schemes with high volume requirements. Offering light but robust design of all components makes our steel framing solution ideal for housing projects with particular delivery requirements.

From advice on floor and wall build ups, to a complete detailing service, our expert technical team is here to ensure each steel standalone structure offers optimal performance according to acoustic, fire and thermal requirements

LIGHT GAUGE BUILDINGS

Light Gauge Buildings (LG) are a cost-effective solution for buildings with smaller footprints. Standard mainframes on Light Gauge Buildings are 14 Gauge and 2½” x 2½” in diameter. This is the most popular framing for smaller footprint buildings, however a thicker 12 Gauge, 2¼” x 2¼” is also an option for areas with high winds or snow. These structures are quite versatile and have several advantages:

  1. Installation- Pricing for these buildings come delivered and installed. The installation process is seamless, and usually, completion happens the same day as the delivery!
  2. Timeframe- LG can be manufactured, delivered, and installed in as little as 5 days!
  3. Ground Options- Light Gauge Buildings can be installed into your concrete foundation or can be tied directly into asphalt, gravel or dirt!
  4. Color Options- Painted Roof and Wainscoting are included standard
  5. 20 year on roof and wall panels. And a 90-Day Workmanship warranty

Why Use Light Gauge Steel Framing System?

The benefits of Light Gauge Steel Construction are listed below:

  • Buildability –The use of prefabricated and pre-assembled steel components lessens on field works, reduces material wastage and enhances the quality of the structure.
  • Speed –It takes less construction time compared to the conventional construction system.
  • Safety –The strength and non-combustible qualities of steel enable structures to withstand devastating events like fires, earthquakes and hurricanes. They are also designed to meet higher seismic and wind loads.
  • Strong but Lightweight –It possesses one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any construction material. This property results in saving reinforcement during foundation and the lightness makes it easier for on-site handling.
  • Quality-The buildings constructed are of better quality, durable and low in maintenance.
  • Easy to Remodel –Remodelling can be easily accomplished as the non-load bearing walls can be easily relocated, removed and altered.
  • Design Flexibility –The strength of steel permits larger span lengths, due to its less weight space utilization is increased.
  • All steel components are recyclable.
  • It has higher resistance against sound, fire and water.
  • Better insulation properties and doesn’t have a termite problem.
